Quick answer
Choose the COBI Gladiator School if you want a detailed diorama with figures of famous gladiators, or the Roman Camp Watchtower if you prefer a modular fortification that can expand into a larger Roman camp.
Display vs modular expansion
The Gladiator School (#20070) is designed as a complete diorama with a school building and training grounds, making it a self-contained display piece. The Roman Camp Watchtower (#20076) is a modular build that can stand alone or combine with other sets to create a larger Roman camp (Castrum) or border fortification (Limes).
If you prefer a finished scene out of the box, the Gladiator School delivers. If you enjoy building a growing empire, the Watchtower gives you that flexibility.
Figures and accessories
The Gladiator School includes figures of the most famous gladiators in Roman history, along with a multitude of accessories and details. The Roman Camp Watchtower focuses on military architecture and guard figures, with a palisade and watchtower that emphasize vigilance and readiness.
For history enthusiasts who want to recreate gladiator combat, the Gladiator School is the clear choice. For those interested in Roman military life and fortifications, the Watchtower is more appropriate.
How to choose between them
- Gladiator School (#20070): A self-contained diorama of a gladiator school with training grounds and famous gladiator figures. Best for display and storytelling.
- Roman Camp Watchtower (#20076): A modular watchtower with palisade that can be combined with other sets to build a larger Roman camp or border fortification.
- Key trade-off: The Gladiator School offers a complete scene with character figures, while the Watchtower offers modularity and expansion potential. Choose based on whether you value a finished diorama or a growing build. Consider if you want a single display piece or a foundation for a larger project.
