COBI Volkswagen T3 Krankenwagen (Ambulance) Van: Set #24636

Build a Volkswagen T3 Krankenwagen model and add an icon of the 1980s emergency services to your collection!

If you love models with a history and your collection is dominated by classics with a unique character, this set is for you!

The Volkswagen T3 Krankenwagen is a time machine that will transport you to an era when angular lines, reliable boxers and the iconic "Bulli" ruled European roads. With this set, you not only build an ambulance but also recreate a piece of rescue history.

Modern silhouette and traditional concept

The Volkswagen T3, unveiled in the spring of 1979 in Hanover, was the third incarnation of the famous "Bulli" and the last Transporter with the rear-mounted, air-cooled boxer engine, a feature familiar from the T1 and T2. It featured more modern, angular lines, fashionable at the time, more extensive equipment and a higher level of safety. The model saw numerous variations: the comfortable Caravelle, the family Multivan and the iconic Westfalia. Although it was replaced in 1990 by the completely redesigned T4, the T3 remained in production in South Africa until... 2002!

Reliability valued by paramedics

The Volkswagen T3 played a significant role in the West German medical services, appearing in specialized versions such as the RTW (full-fledged emergency ambulance), the KTW (patient transport vehicle) and the Notarztwagen (notarztwagen) intended for emergency medical services. T3 ambulances are easily recognizable by their raised, laminated roof, allowing rescuers to move freely inside. They also featured the famous "Martinshorn" horn, whose two-tone, shrill sound became a symbol of West German ambulances and still evokes nostalgia among car enthusiasts.

Now you can add a model of the reliable Volkswagen T3 Krankenwagen to your collection; all you have to do is build it!
