The Northrop F-5A Freedom Fighter was a light fighter aircraft that was developed in the 1960s by the American Northrop Corporation. It was introduced into service in 1964. The F-5A was a popular export model and gained recognition around the world. Its main features were maneuverability, simplicity of operation and relatively low operating price. This aircraft played an important role in many armed conflicts and served as a platform for training pilots. Between 1966 and 1972, Norway purchased a total of 108 F-5 aircraft in various versions. These planes were used in the Air Force for almost 35 years, during which they underwent a number of modernization programs. 336 Squadron at Rygge Air Base was the last unit to use the F-5, and the aircraft were withdrawn from active service in 2000.

Using 358 COBI construction blocks you can build an F-5 Freedom Fighter in the beautiful colors of Luftforsvaret (Royal Norwegian Air Force). The licensed set was built based on the plans of the F-5 aircraft with the utmost attention to brick details. The plane has characteristic prints, movable ailerons and a detachable landing gear. The cockpit opens and a simplified figure of a pilot wearing a helmet can be placed in it. The set also includes a brick display stand and a plate with the name, scale of the plane and the Norwegian flag. The 1:48 scale model complements the series of aircraft released as part of the Armed Forces collection! Build it today!

John ★★★★★

The brick count is impressive for the scale, and I love how the landing gear folds up cleanly into the fuselage. Build took me a couple of evenings, but the detailed panel lines on the wings make it worth the time.

Penelope X. ★★★★★

The printed tiles for the cockpit instruments are crisp and easy to read, which makes the building experience feel more detailed. The landing gear mechanism folds up neatly, and the whole model feels sturdy once assembled.

Ava ★★★★★

I was really impressed with how well the landing gear holds up — the little rubber tires actually roll smoothly. The decal sheet is also generous, with plenty of markings to choose from.
