Lockheed® P-38 LIGHTNING® was a fast and heavily-armed American long-range fighter aircraft from World War II. This unusual twin-engine plane had a gondola with a pilot's cabin placed between two fuselages. The so-called "flying frame" provided very good performance, which resulted in a long production period lasting from 1941 to 1945 and an excellent number of victories by American pilots. The aircraft was withdrawn from service only in 1965.

P-38 LIGHTNING was released under the original license of the American arms company Lockheed Martin. The plane, precisely reproduced in a 1:48 scale, consists of 332 COBI construction blocks. The model is covered with high-quality prints that do not wear off even during intensive play. The plane also has rotating propellers. This famous plane is a perfect gift idea for fans of aviation, history and technology. It will certainly satisfy even picky collectors and young people fascinated by building blocks. Build history, piece by piece, with COBI!

Lily ★★★★★

The twin-engine setup makes the P-38 feel properly heavy and balanced once assembled, and the gondola between the fuselages is a nice touch that stands out on a shelf. Took me an evening to build, and the interlocking parts stayed snug without needing glue.

Violet ★★★★★

The gondola design is really striking once built—it captures the unusual silhouette of the real P-38 perfectly. Assembly took me a couple of evenings, but the instructions were clear and the finished model feels sturdy.

Penelope U. ★★★★★

The P-38's separate engine nacelles and central cockpit pod look fantastic once assembled, and the printed brick details save the hassle of stickers. It was a fun build that captures the plane's unique WWII silhouette nicely.
