From Fast Passenger Plane to Luftwaffe Bomber

The history of the Heinkel He 111 dates back to the early 1930s, when designer Ernst Heinkel set out to create one of the fastest passenger aircraft of the era. The project was developed by Siegfried and Walter Günter, who created a modern machine featuring an aerodynamic profile and distinctive elliptical wings. Shortly thereafter, the He 70 Blitz model was unveiled; capable of reaching speeds of 320 km/h, it could be easily converted into a military aircraft. In the mid-1930s, the He 111 design was submitted to the Reich Ministry of Aviation's bomber competition.

In November 1939, the He 111 H-3 variant was introduced, powered by 1,200 hp Jumo 211D engines. This version featured upgraded defensive armament, consisting of up to six MG 15 machine guns positioned in the nose, dorsal, ventral and lateral stations. The typical bomb load amounted to 2,000 kg, carried internally within the fuselage.

During World War II, the He 111 became one of the Luftwaffe's primary bombers, particularly renowned for its role in the Battle of Britain.

The Heinkel He 111 has secured a permanent place in the history of 20th-century aviation. Now, you can recreate its distinctive silhouette using building blocks and add it to your collection.

Sebastian ★★★★★

The wing-to-fuselage connection is incredibly tight on this Heinkel model, and the printed pieces for the cockpit glazing look sharp. I've built a lot of WWII aircraft sets, and this one captures the bomber's distinct nose shape perfectly.

Carter O. ★★★★★

The level of detail on this model is fantastic—the landing gear and turret really capture the He 111's look. I spent a good evening building it and the instructions were clear the whole way through. A great set for anyone into WWII aircraft.

Robert ★★★★★

The cockpit glazing pieces fit together perfectly, and the landing gear stays securely attached even after I’ve picked it up a few times. It’s a satisfying build that really captures the Heinkel’s distinctive nose shape.
