History of the Boeing B-29 Superfortress

The Boeing B-29 Superfortress was one of the most advanced bombers of World War II and an icon of American aviation. Equipped with pressurized crew cabins, remote-controlled turrets, and a modern fire-control system, it represented a breakthrough in aviation technology.

Thanks to its long range and heavy payload capacity, it became a key element of US strategy in the Pacific. Combat missions began in 1944; the aircraft operated from bases in India and China, and later from Guam, Saipan, and Tinian, carrying out strategic raids on targets in Japan.

Its most famous operations include the firebombing of Tokyo and the atomic bombing missions against Hiroshima and Nagasaki, carried out by the Enola Gay and Bockscar. After the war, the B-29 remained in service for many years, including during the Korean War.

"Monsoon Goon" was a Boeing B-29 Superfortress belonging to the 794th Bombardment Squadron, 468th Bombardment Group. In 1944, it was deployed to India, where it took part in long-range bombing operations over Asia.

It returned to the USA in late 1944 and was stationed at Pyote Army Airfield in Texas. There, it ended its service and was scrapped in 1949.

Eva ★★★★★

The 1:72 scale feels just right, and the brick-built landing gear is sturdy enough to actually roll the model around on my desk. Took me a couple of evenings to assemble, but every step was satisfying.

Jacob O. ★★★★★

I was blown away by the level of detail on this 1:72 scale B-29, especially the rotating turrets that actually move smoothly. The 1,500+ pieces kept me engaged for a couple of evenings, and the finished model looks fantastic on my shelf.

Sebastian ★★★★☆

The model's 1:72 scale is impressively accurate, and the clear brick instructions made the assembly smooth even for a complex bomber. I just wish the decal application was a bit easier without needing tweezers.
